In less than 8 years, Americans conceived of the idea to land a man on the moon and actually did it. During that time we had a Cuban missile crisis, a war (Vietnam), street protests, 3 assassinations (JFK, MLK and RFK) and yet we overcame the hardship to achieve the incredible - beating Soviet Union to the moon. Yes, we can ‘multi task’ - or at least we could at one time.
And today? We struggle. We have been struggling with immigration crisis for decades and no solution or resolution in sight…it can take more than 10 years to resolve some lawsuits….our politicians are so bitterly divided and only wanting to win, not solve so that nothing gets accomplished….and I could go on and on and on.
Has something happened to us that we have lost the will to identify problems or goals and actually achieve them? Why could we do the unthinkable in the 1960’s and not now? What is different about now? Is fighting each other that important to us that we will allow us to fail to solve problems? Is blaming ‘the other guy’ so important to us?
